A Salute to a Great Step

Come the 19th and 20th of June this year, the 3rd International Fit to Drive Congress will again take a step forward into changing the growing number of traffic fatalities. This event will be held in Prague.

Following the light of the words “REALITY AND VISION—COMMON PROBLEMS, EUROPEAN SOLUTIONS,” one of its objectives is to help contribute to the development of “fitness to drive” requirements that meet the safety demands of the society.

Wait. Before you think of possible answers on why I am mentioning this, I will explain. I am not a member of any of the organizations behind this nor am I a former participant of this congress. I can’t also think of things to say that I was in any way benefited by this event, directly or indirectly. Most of all, I am not promoting this. Honestly, I am just a curious web reader that happened to stumble upon this announcement.

Yes, I just got interested in the idea that international organizations are making a step towards resolving the increasing number of dangers that the wheels had caused to the human race. I assume that you are also aware of the dangers that such a form of transportation has given us. Though these incidents are accidents, at some point, they could still be prevented.

I salute (really) the idea of formulating the right “fit to drive” requirements. Eventually, every driver on the road is guaranteed to be of right mind and that he is familiar with every precaution needed. This will lead to the decrease of fatalities in the road, if followed correctly.

However, I hope that events like this would not only focus on the situation of just one country or continent. Car accidents is the problem of the whole world so the whole world must plan and work on it. If ever worldwide planning cannot be done, then I suggest that every country should take a step like this to cure the wounds caused by road accidents. I hope.
