Are Really Women More Knowledgeable Than...

It is a fact that men are mostly the residents of the roads. Compared to women, we really outnumber them when we talk about the roads. However, though a bit intriguing, they say women are much more knowledgeable than us when it comes to knowledge about basic car care. So when a woman seeks for advice from a man about car care, she’s probably not in good hands.

Though the national survey, which was sponsored by Jiffy Lube, it was found out that 69 percent of men and 64 percent of women agree that men know more about car care. Their responses speak otherwise.

When respondents were asked where the proper tire-inflation information of the vehicle is located, 67 percent of men and 45 percent of women said that it is in the sidewalls of the tires. However, Mark Ferner, the technical expert of Jiffy Lube, said that it was wrong. He stated that this information could be either seen in the vehicle’s door jamb or in the owner’s manual. In that question alone, 22 percent of women while only 16 percent of men have the right knowledge with regards to that information.

Moreover, 67 percent of men and 46 percent of women were wrong when they say that the act of simply switching from conventional engine oil to a synthetic one extends the oil-change interval. As to this question, it is obvious that more women know the fact about oil-change interval than men.

When you are looking for a used car to purchase, what are your criteria? Of course, you should have some. The same applies when you are planning to sell your car. Make sure that you make your car meet your own criteria when you are purchasing a vehicle. It is because buyers most often agree at one set of criteria. With that, you can easily look for interested buyers or make the most dollars out of your old car.

Here are some things that you could consider so that you could have a greater chance of selling your car.

· Make it presentable. Though it is always said that the exterior of a vehicle does not count so much, still many people would have an impression that the car is well-maintained and properly cared by the previous owner. However, it does not just end in the exterior; make sure that the car’s interior and engine are clean.

· Fix obvious damage. At least fix damaged headlights, lenses, and the like. Of course, you would not want to give the buyer a reason not to buy your car. So as much as possible, have the damage repaired. More than that, the cost of damage could lessen the actual selling price of your vehicle.

· Paintless dent repair and airbrush touch-up. Doing these would make the car look better, thus make it more appealing to the buyer. Note that you should ask the assistance of auto professionals in performing these things.

· Windshield and tires. If there is a crack in the windshield, have it replaced depending on the location and size of the crack. This is because experts say that buyers will easily draw back in buying a car that has a six-inch crack near the driver’s line of sight. On the other hand, the tires should have some tread life still. They must be the proper size.

· Remember the service records. Make sure you have the record well-organized for your car’s buyer. This is because a service record will give an impression to buyers that the car is properly cared and maintained.

· Other considerations. Be honest on how you sell your car. Tell the prospective buyer about the real condition of the car and any problem he might be encountering along the way.

Are you just about to purchase a new car? Don’t get too excited! Are you done performing test drives with it? If haven’t yet, don’t just get inside the car and turn the ignition on. Instead, know the necessary things that you should observe when performing tests like this to make your test successful. Here, check these things:

Walk around the car first. As I told you earlier, don’t get too excited! Inspect the car’s exterior. Ask yourself if you really want the physical appearance of this car. Check the paint, the gaps between the body panels, and the trim pieces. Usually, these three things speak for the quality of the craftsmanship of the vehicle.
Check its size. Open every door, be it the regular side doors or the trunk or tailgate to check if they are comfortable to be worked with. Check if you can reach the cargo area with ease and if the area is enough for your daily use. Also, see to it that you can comfortably slide inside and outside of the vehicle through the doors.
Tactile checks. See if you are comfortable staying in the seats and if there is enough headroom for you. Hold the steering wheel and try to work on the pedals. If you are comfortable enough in it, then it is better. Check the buttons too and see if it is within your reach or if you can still control it while focusing on the road.
Imagine that you own the car. If you feel comfortable driving it and feel good about having it, then it could be your kind of car.
Hear from the salesperson. Don’t wait until your driving on the road to hear from the salesperson the special features of the car you will be buying. That would just distract you from judging the vehicle you are driving. So before you go on a test drive, know every detail from the dealer.

In most countries, if not all, men definitely crowd the roads. However, nowadays, more and more women are embracing the road, the rules and participating in traffic jams. By any chance, have you ever wondered if women (in purchasing a vehicle) are just the same as men? Perhaps, you will easily notice a vehicle that is owned by a woman. It’s different than what we prefer. Would you agree? Here. Let’s see why they tend to choose a different version than men.

Studies find out that women have a broader range of criteria in choosing a vehicle. It is said that if men have five criteria, women tend to have the same ones but would have more in their mind. Experts say that women prioritize the safety, comfort, practicality, and value of a vehicle. More than that, they still look at the styling, design, and performance but with a lower priority than the first four mentioned above. They are the kind of buyers who are not just contented in seeing the larger picture of a product. They tend to give more attention to details.

Also, women are said to be more open to the idea of getting a small car than men do. However, some still prefer large models. In a survey conducted in San Diego, 40 percent of women want a vehicle that could give them a comfortable ride as compared to 25 percent of men.

In terms of the value of a vehicle, women are more concerned with the price than men. Studies state that even wealthy women care so much about the price. In fact, most of the luxury vehicles owned by women today are among the most affordable ones in the auto market. In comparison, men own the most expensive vehicles around. To explain this trend, women do not see a vehicle as a status symbol unlike men that the vehicles they own are their means of expressing their status.

With this, let’s understand that the two genders are indeed different. Starting from the style of the vehicle (which they prefer are gentler and less aggressive ones) up to its worth. We are different. But let us still respect each other while on the road.

Getting Away From Irritating Dealers

Purchasing a vehicle could be a very tiring activity. From the process of looking for the one you want, knowing its features in closing deals could be so much of a headache. If you only do not need a purchase, you would not choose to be in this kind of situation. Add to it the dealers who almost want you to drive your new vehicle without any penny left in your pocket.

With all due respect to dealers, many incidents happen that when you are about to close a deal, pay for your purchase, and drive your new vehicle home, additional dollars are added up to your purchase due to features the dealer would want you to add to your vehicle. Most of the time, they would do the necessary enhancements to the vehicle without your consent leaving you with no choice but to pay for it. However, you should not let this happen to you.

The most common options dealers would give you are the following. Try to avoid them.

Fabric protection. The dealers would say this repels stains but it would cost you more than buying your own spray for the vehicle’s carpet.

Rust-proofing. They could charge you with this for up to $800. However, remember that your new purchase is covered by up to several years of warranty that covers rust damage. Therefore, there is no more need for you to invest for the rust-proofing. If they happen to spray it without your consent, then it is your right not to pay for it.

Paint sealant. They will tell you that this step would make your car’s paint as fresh as it is new. Don’t accept it; preserving the car’s paint does not really require too much dollar. You only need to regularly wash and wax it.

Window etching. They would charge you with this for a couple of hundred dollars when you can purchase this in auto stores at $20. Both would just function and fail in cases thieves choose to break your car windows.

Alarm system. They would sell this to you in the name of security. The need for it is unquestionable. However, aftermarket alarms are cheaper. But if you want to have it, ensure that what they will be installing is a product of a reputable manufacturer.

Extended warranty. Often, an extended warranty is not anymore worth the money because warranties of today’s vehicles are longer than before. If you want an extended warranty, get it from better independent insurers.

These are some things that they might want you to purchase for them to get extra profit. If you happen to be in this kind of situation, don’t let them fool you. If they would not allow you to choose for yourself, then leave the deal. On the end, you will just win because never will they allow a customer to leave a very significant deal.
